You probably have a pop-up blocker on your internet browser. Turn that off or put your website in the "safe" list.

No I checked that already not working. I seen a 3rd party pm pop up letting them know that they have a new pm.

I doubt there is a 3rd party modification when it is default vbulletin to have the popup. Perhaps you've removed the code from your style. You can try this:
Create a new style with no parent:

Hello, we have a similar problem and did as you said which is create a new style, and sure enough the pop up was displayed. However we cant work out what code we have deleted in the customised style which blocks the pop up. And ideas? Thanks
PS the templates we have modified are: footer FORUMDISPLAY FORUMHOME forumhome_forumbit_leve1_nopost forumhome_lastpostby header headinclude navbar PPS we have read through searches that the code $headnewpm must be included in headinclude, however we do not have a headnewpm template. Not even in the reverted style for which the popup works. |

I did a search in templates for "headnewpm" and got no hit. If the pop-up isn't displaying at all, you should start by looking at the templates used on all pages - header, headinclude, navbar, and footer. Go to Edit the template and then hit View History and Compare. You should then see the differences. Look for any missing javascript or variables and then add them to your custom templates.

Well we managed to not figure it out per se, but find a way to get round it. The problems started when we created a new style, and because we didnt want the same footer for all the pages, instead of including $footer for each template, we copied and pasted what was in the footer template and edited it slightly to suit what we wanted for each page. However after trying to figure out the problem of the no-pop-up, we narrowed it down to this problem. In fact, even if we copied the EXACT SAME CODE writte in the footer template, the popup wouldnt work. We HAD to have $footer written out explicitly. Perhaps this is a obvious error but since we're new to this we weren't aware of this. So we had to edit the footer code and include it in each template, and accept that the footer of each page wasnt exactly how we wished.
Thanks for the help though. I feel sick after staring at the screen for so long! |
