Firefox has a feature called "code correction" which allows programmers to be lazy. See, the feature will automatically close tags for programmers. This means that when you test a website in Firefox - it will fix mistakes (and developers won't even know that there is something wrong with the code).
Try disabling your modifications one at a time and testing the board out for speed. One of them might be messing up. If nothing fixes that, it might be your skin. Try creating a new style and see if you still get the problem.
Another thing you might consider is the URL that you've specified in the BBURL setting for vBulletin does not have "www." in it. This is normally not a problem, but it might affect the javascript for AJAX on IE.
