Default Introduction to new moderators

I have just gotten a very knowledgeable lady to accept being a moderator.

But, she does not know vBulletin that well and she needs an introduction to being a vBulletin moderator. What does a moderator do? How to police the site etc.

Is there such a document out there "Introduction to vBulletin moderators. How to be a vBulletin moderator."?

I have not seen any general document, as it is largely different from one forum to another. The best way to learn is to figure it out by one's self. If there are any questions, just tell her to ask.

I have a whole thread in my Staff forum that explains what being a moderator is about on my site. I tell my new mods to sit back and read and watch. I also tell them if they are unsure of something, to hit the Report this Post button and then the report goes to a Staff forum and we can discuss the post and action to take.

Every forum is different, you need to write up some sort of guide to moderation which is tailored to your boards needs and make them clear.

Lynne...
Your comment about the "report post" button creating a thread in a "Staff Forum" is interesting.
The default for my site sends an email to all moderators and admin...often confusing if two moderators take action or respond to the sender by PM.

Is this a mod?...and where is it?
It would be most useful to me.
Thanks.

I had that same question at one point. I just made a guidelines thread under our private staff forum.

Granted my time is over limited quantity I thought about writing something that would direct them to a Moderator/Administrator FAQ page the first time they logged in/loaded a new page with that Usegroup added to their id. I just don't know how or what details to use in the conditionals to do something like that. Could be useful though for making sure the staff reads through responsibilities. Suppose its kind of like the "Force a User to Read Thread" hack.
