Upgrade trouble vb 3.8.1 help please!

Hi,
I just finished uploading all the files to my web server using smart ftp 3.0
Followed all the instruction in vb manual on upgrading the existing installation.
Files FTPed no problem, config.php was edited, install.php deleted,
but when I try to run the upgrade.php I get 404 error page not found... I am really confused.
I see the install folder with all the files. All folders that need it have right access permissions.
What am I missing?
I am really a newb when it comes to vbulletin so I am stumped!

I go to mysite/public_html/install/upgrade.php and nothing.
I tried reloading the install directory, but it is all the same - no go.

My forums are now closed I was hopping to finish this up by 4-5pm, but from the looks of it I won't be able to!

Original install was done buy siteground.com techs, oddly enough I see two public_html folders.
One is called public_html another one www, btu they are both public html folders and have exactly the same files... that is very confusing to me.

I have search the forum on this issue, but can't find a fix that works.

Any help would be much appreciated!

have you tried just going to yousite.com/install/upgrade.php ?

I'm sorry guys. That was it, it worked!
Can one of the mods here change my name to village_idiot please.
I really feel retarded.
I just followed instructions to the letter, so when it said example.com/forum/install/upgrade.php that's what I did.

I would guess your on a cpanel server as public_html & www are the same folder, the www folder is sym_linked to the public_html folder.

You are absolutely correct.
I had to dig thru site ground remarks in c-panel to figure that out.
