Hi Lynne,
Yes I agree but the only thing is if it gets to out of hand not only will coders not continue to release code but viewers (potential new members) will see this and move on. No one wants to come to a website and see a bunch of negative stuff, nasty people or get a bunch of grief. I don't know what can be done about this obviously, but for me, an APPRECIATIVE vb owner, it is a big turn off. I just hope this stuff doesn't deter other would-be coders to share or more frequent coders to say adios. I guess it's the teach a man to fish thing.... Quote:

You have to also remember that not every negative comment is someone just being a douche. (Though, on occasion, that's true) A lot of the times, people have the wrong understanding of how the whole process works. They've paid for vBulletin, they've had to use proof of that payment to enter vBulletin.org, so it's no surprise that sometimes they've not registered the fact that the two are not the same thing. That this is community based on generosity and that their licence only granted them access, not privilege.
It's easy to forget that, so I don't have a problem reminding them. I think it's necessary to remind them, not let them get you flustered by their misconceptions, and then move on. Most of the time this is best way to make the better impression on new coders visiting, and keeps the threads from getting locked or the posts from getting deleted. Sometimes, not always, but sometimes you even get them to understand where they made their mistake in the process. |

LOL I have not heard someone called a "douche" in ages... Thanks for the giggle. Funny as hell to me for some reason.

OMG I was just going to ask about the "bag" part. Humm, I wonder if I can get away with using this? Is it more lady-like to follow with "bag".? LOL Is there a feminine version of a douche bag? Maybe Strawberry Douche Bag." Or "Douche Bagette?" All have to try them out although I just have to say them in my mnd. I'm sure if my teenager heard me say this, she'll probably laugh hysterically at the shock of what just came out of my mouth.
Hummmm. Douche bag eh? Has a certain ring to it doesn't it? |

D-Bag is quite popular in our house, and quite possibly our city, as well! There ARE worse things to be called, of course. LOL! |
