Default Sidebars

I followed these instructions and successfully created a right column for skyscraper advertisements (notice how they are in the area with the grey background):

But I am wondering how I can move my sidebar further outwards, into the area with the black background (highlighted in yellow):

This should do it.

Code:
<!-- logo -->
<a name="top"></a>

<table width="$stylevar[outertablewidth]" border="0" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" align="center">
	<tr>
	<td width="150" valign="top" class="page" style="padding: $stylevar[cellpadding]px;">
		YOUR CONTENT HERE
	</td>
	<td valign="top">

<table border="0" width="$stylevar[outertablewidth]" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" align="center">
<tr>
	<td align="$stylevar[left]"><a href="$vboptions[forumhome].php$session[sessionurl_q]"><img src="$stylevar[titleimage]" border="0" alt="$vboptions[bbtitle]" /></a></td>
	<td align="$stylevar[right]">
		&nbsp;
	</td>
</tr>
</table>
<!-- /logo -->

<!-- content table -->
$spacer_open

$_phpinclude_output

I tested the code before posting it.

Did you change the code?

As the hack link you showed the column is on the left side and on your site column is on the right.

Code:
<!-- logo -->
<a name="top"></a>

<table width="$stylevar[outertablewidth]" border="0" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" align="center">
	<tr>
	<td valign="top">

<table border="0" width="$stylevar[outertablewidth]" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" align="center">
<tr>
	<td align="$stylevar[left]"><a href="$vboptions[forumhome].php$session[sessionurl_q]"><img src="$stylevar[titleimage]" border="0" alt="$vboptions[bbtitle]" /></a></td>
	<td align="$stylevar[right]">
		&nbsp;
	</td>
</tr>
</table>
<!-- /logo -->

<!-- content table -->
$spacer_open

$_phpinclude_output

BTW. You need to change the color of you copyright notice from vBulletin, it is not visible on your site.

I didn't change any code, as you didn't specify what code to change.

The instructions I followed explain how to add a sidebar to either the left or the right. I want the sidebar on the right, and that's what I did.

When I added your code to the header template, it sloppily added a sidebar to the left.
Based on the instructions on the thread at vb.com that I linked to, please specify what code(s) to change.

Thanks for pointing this out. It is not my site though, it's the site of a client that I am assisting in setting up the board.

I undid the first step from the instructions I followed and then implemented your method (from Post #4), and it still is not where I want it. You can check the site (www.mypilotnetwork) and see how it is now.
However, the way it is now may be suitable. I will have to check with the person I am doing this for...

this is very useful! I was literally about to post this question when I saw this. I got it working on the left but now I need the right. Any suggestions?

This is exactly what you were looking for. (Problem solved )
Personally if it is my site I would make the header wider and put the ads where they were.
