Spam Users???
Hey guys, so I haven't really maintained my website for a while since I have been busy lately, and there are a ton of spam users (bots of some sort) posting ads and other nonsense. I went through and locked all the forums so no more posting of spam can be done (the site isn't public yet) and I deleted all the users. I updated to the latest vbulletin (not the beta 8 version)
Will the update take care of this or what can I do to prevent these users? |

VBuletin can't defeat the spammers on its own, no matter what update you do, I have about 5 or 6 new registrations a day and these are spammers which don't get through thanks to "Is Bot" You could also set your post to be moderated for new members, at least you won't have the spam posted and you'll be able to ban the ip address. Also do an ip address search and ban entire countries from registering by entering the IP address like this 221.* That will ban every single ip addy starting with 221. So Now you can ban all of china, Russia and any other country that yiou want banned, mind you you may have to sear google for the entire ip range on china and russia. |
