Any way to throttle vbulletin back from max_connections?
I run a tiny board, maybe 10-15 users at a time, peak. I keep hitting the host-set 150 max_connections limit. I don't think I should be hitting it, but I don't know what's causing it. Whenever I run SHOW PROCESSES all I see is the board itself.
Is it possible to somehow throttle vbulletin back so it doesn't hit that limit until I can get moved to a new host? Thanks! |

you shouldn't be hitting 150 max connections with 10-15 users online. Do you have persitant DB connections disabled in config.php and how many guests are viewing the frums at the same time.

Could this be caused by SE spiders?

Persistent connections are disabled (I think that is the default.)
I only see 3-4 guests at a time, including spiders. |

What about modifications installed, do you have a lot?
Even then with lets say a generous 30 people online at any one time, your connections should be 30 and thats only if all 30 refreshed the page at the same time. There has to be something else causing the load, are you using the same database username/password for other MySQL driven applications or is vBulletin the only thing you are running on your hosting account. |

Vbulletin is the only thing using that database. My backup script is run manually.
