Navbar Images

I have Googled all over the place, searched vBulletin.org, as well as many other vBulletin related sites and I cannot find any tips on how to replace the text links in the vBulletin Navbar with images.

Does anyone know how to do this? I believe it requires editing the Navbar template at the <!-- nav buttons bar --> . <!-- /nav buttons bar --> location but I don't know how this is done.

I tried simply replacing this:

<td class="vbmenu_control"><a href="usercp.php$session[sessionurl_q]">$vbphrase[user_cp]</a></td>

with this:

<td class="vbmenu_control"><a href="usercp.php$session[sessionurl_q]">img src="images/myimage.gif"</a></td>

but that didn't work.

I then tried using <td class="vbmenu_control"><a href="usercp.php$session[sessionurl_q]">url('images/myimage.gif')</a></td>

but that doesn't work either.

Can anyone explain how to do this?

This one is almost right:
<td class="vbmenu_control"><a href="usercp.php$session[sessionurl_q]">img src="images/myimage.gif"</a></td>

I think what your problem is might be caused by the lack of tags. (I have no idea if this is the proper term, heh.) Try changing the red text into:
<img src="images/myimage.gif">

Cip is correct. You weren't using a proper image tag. Make sure your image path is correct. The correct line, using Cip's image tag, would be:

<td class="vbmenu_control"><a href="usercp.php$session[sessionurl_q]"><img src="images/myimage.gif"></a></td>

Yes, You are correct. A stupid mistake to say the least! Thank you very much for your help.

I now have just one problem withthe navbar,... I have replaced all of the text links with images but I want to get rid of those two little 'down arrows' next to the "Search" and "Quick Links" buttons. Can you tell me what part of the template code controls these?
