suddenly noone can use their registration links from the email...
OK, so first of all, I have to admit that I am not yet running the latest version. I have been unable to dedicate the time to the site for some months and have begun working on a completely new server which I will migrate the current boards to. This new server will be a completely new implementation and kept up to date in a more rigorous fashion.
What I need is for someone who recognises the problem I am encountering to give me some pointers on how to manage the transitional time period. User registration has never been an issue on the site - it has been running with vB3.6.8 for quite a long time without any problems (well of a software kind Suddenly I am getting emails from everywhere asking me to manually activate users' accounts since they claim none of the links in the email work. I have just confirmed this myself - all the links direct the browser to a blank page with the correct url in the url bar. This is most strange - ie: http://www.myforums.com.au/vB/regist...908&i=52344455 is blank and so is http://www.myforums.com.au/vB/register.php?a=ver calling upon register.php directly provides a page stating that the records indicate that I have already registered and so on... and when I go to my CP I find that I am actually activated and logged in - I can edit my profile?>?> Users are not getting this far since the redirection is not activating. Perhaps this is why I am not getting all the requests since some members are rehitting the site and finding a way in after activation and ignoring the white page... I have searched around a bit but found nothing that directly relates Can anyone suggest some troubleshooting while I continue to build the new server? This appears to apply to all url's in emails - request new password etc... Many Thanks in Advance \\' |

Are the links in all emails wrong?
To troubleshoot this, please remove any hacks and disable your plugins, then see if you still have this problem. Note: To temporarily disable the plugin system, edit config.php and add this line right under <?php define('DISABLE_HOOKS', true); If so, reupload all the original vB non-image files (except install.php). Make sure you upload these in ASCII format and overwrite the ones on the server. If your problem still exists, please create a new Style with no Parent set. Now browse the forum using this new style, do you still have the same problems? If you are troubleshooting login or guest issues, you will need to set this style as board default in the vBulletin Options. |

Will work on this Marco, thank you very much for your comprehensive and detailed assistance.
The links in the emails are correct which is why it is odd. The problem seems to be in parsing the php context data after the url/path |
