Changing the way the forum list looks

Hello, Can anyone help me with this or at least point me in the right direction. I'd like to change the way the forums display just slightly.

First I was trying to change the posting information from three to two lines. Something like this:

Before:

Another test post
by testperson
08-12-2008 05:36 AM Go to last post

Change this to:

Another test post
(testperson) - 08/12/2008 05:36 AM

Is there just one template I would need to change to do this? I looked around and it's my first time to change things so I'd appreciate some advice.

Now something maybe a lot more difficult.

I use another forum and one thing I really like is that it shows the number of new threads and posts for each forum since I was last on. Something like:

36239 (1) 352611 (14)

Where the numbers in parenthesis show the number of new threads and posts.

Does anyone know of a mod / hack that would enable me to do this with Vbulletin.
