Need New Users to Be Assigned to Certain User Group upon sign-up
Hi,
I have a forum that's getting a little out of hand! I have users who have specific interest areas and each interest area necessarily precludes other areas of interest that are also on the forum. Let's call it the Cat & Dog scenario. Say we have people who own cats or dogs, but not both. But the forum contains discussions on cats & dogs. But the people who own cats, since they don't own dogs, simply have no interest in the dog forum. So I'd like them to be assigned to the Cat group when they sign up. I'd like it to be a simple question like Do You Own a Cat or a Dog? They are then assigned to the appropriate group based on their answer to that question. That way when they login they'll see all Cat discussions and none of the dog discussions that they don't have any interest in. Does anyone know of a way to do that? And if I'm not asking this in the right place... just let me know. Thanks! |

Check the threads of these modifications to see if they work on 3.7:
Add User to Primary Usergroup Based on Value of Custom Profile Field Add User to Secondary Usergroup Based on the Value of a Custom Profile Field at Reg. |

Yeah, those are getting pretty close to what I'm looking for. Although they look like they're for a much earlier version than 3.7. But yes, that's very much along the lines of what I'm looking for. Thanks!
