I have had a forum site up and running since 11/'07. I decided to open another forum site aside from my current one. It is on the same FTP server as an add-on site.
I'm still building it but the oddest thing occurred from day one. It seems as though it has two of my user names! I always have to enter my user name and password twice in order to log on! I have no idea how this could possibly have happened. Just for the hell of it I did a search on my user name and it is of course only listed as one account. It's really becoming a tad irksome to always enter my user name and password twice. Any ideas how this could possibly have happened and if so any possible solutions? I was thinking of entering in a different user name for myself but I'm a bit hesitant on doing so as I have no idea what would happen as in, the possibility of not being able to log in again. As long this idea occurred to me is this possible to do? ~Phil ![]() |

its a conflict with the cookies. You need to use a unique cookie for the 2nd board if they are on the same url.

Thats something else I noticed today and I don't like it at all. I'm just glad the site is closed as I'm still working on it. When I get on my new site there are two addresses in the browser field box! It has my other site followed by my new site: http://www.**********.net/newsite/index.php ! This could prove to be very disconcerting to a user who goes to my new site! How the hell can I also solve that? ~Phil ![]() |

Here are the options (in 3.7.1) for what you need.
Admincp > vBulletin Options > vBulletin Options > Cookies and HTTP Header Options. |

You need to set different cookie prefixes for each site (in config.php). Also, set the domain path to .domain.com (note preceding dot), or redirect all traffic from "www." to no "www" (or vice-versa).

OK
I found this setting last night but Im not all that sure what to do.
My old site is: bonsaichat.net and the add on domain (the one Im having trouble with) is: rifleandpistolzone.com. The Path to Save Cookies only has a drop down menu and nothing can be entered. I tried both as in / and the other option of rifleandpistolzone but no difference. The Cookie Domain is the same with only a drop down menus and two options: (blank) or, .bonsaichat.net. As for the Custom Setting in both the Path to Save Cookies and the Cookie Domain Im not sure if I should enter anything there besides the obvious fact that it scares the freaking hell out of me with its warning: Entering an invalid setting can leave you unable to log in to your forum! Should I enter something into any of these custom settings and if so what? I certainly dont want to get locked out of my own site!! ~Phil |

Please read my post again. It specifies clearly what to do.

For the first part, I've said to look in config.php, for the second part, you've already found it in the Admin CP. For the last suggestion, a simple Google search for "redirect all traffic from www to no www" gives the perfect answer in the first result.
