What im trying to do is make it so i have a forum with subforums, but you cant post in the forum that houses the subforums, and you cant post/ see any posts in the forum, aside from th elinks to the different subforums

Close the forum in question in the admincp forum manager, there is a option to not allow posts, same goes for categories.
