What does this mean?
I've been averaging a lot of database errors lately, in the last month. I consistently get this message -

Well yea, I've been getting a lot of database error messages through email. Here's another one. Now I'm not running any queries or anything, does the server, vb run queries on its own...because I'm getting kinda scared if someone is manually running queries and it's not me doing it. Quote:

You can do some reading about it here: http://dev.mysql.com/doc/refman/5.0/en/gone-away.html.
My guess is, your server is too stressed out from usage, but it could be a lot of things. |

vb does do many queries.
I've experienced several "mysql gone away" error situations, that ended up being linked to either improper code or something that didn't function properly after an upgrade or chance. Print out the page that lists your installed plugins, and then start disabling/un-installing them one by one until the errors stop. Since the first error message is associated with the cybstats plugin I'd start there. Keep disabling until the error messages stop. The culprit could be an improper configuration, or something that requires additional server configuration to properly support. Hope this helps, |

Cyb has some of the best/well programed plugins here. I doubt its his. Your probally on a shared server or a mis configured dedicated server.
If you are on a shared server its either overloaded or you just have way to many plugins/mods running. If you are on a dedicated server ask for a server optimization over at vb.com |

Chances are good that the host is experiencing problems and its out of your hands.
You can either sit there and take crappy hosting, or you can go find a hosting company that works. |

Use an IP address (127.0.0.1) in config.php instead of localhost if database is on same server

The first error almost certainly means mysql was not running, so vb could not connect to it.
The second error could be a low timeout setting in mysql. |
