Adding HTML or BBcodes to custom usertitles?

I just recently upgraded my board and used to have a hack that allowed the staff to change their usertitles, and include HTML to bold and change the colors and whatnot. But with 3.6.8, they can edit their titles but not add any coding. Is there any way that can change their titles and include coding? Any hacks or modifications I should know about?? Options?? Anything?? I don't want to have to go into each moderator account to put in the usertitle coding each time they want it changed. That would be a gigantic headache. Each moderator has a quote in their usertitle that they like to rotate, as well as colors for their titles.
