maybe make it so that it shows the link to the image instead of the image itself, or a thumbnail.

i agree. there are some threads where a user will post an image, only to then have that image quoted in a full quote multiple times. this just causes the loadtime to be higher for that page, and if the image is a large image, it can get annoying waiting for 5 copies of the same image to load.
