Add-On Releases - DownloadsII Create New Thread Add-On

What does it do?
When a user uploads or updates a file via DownloadsII a thread is created or updated in the specificed forum.

DownloadsII Create New Thread Add-On, is not a stand-alone mod. It requires DownloadsII 5.0.4 or higher.

Features

1. Ability to global select the forum that receives the new thread and the userid of the thread creator.
2. Ability to decide what forum receives the new thread and the thread creator based on the category of the file
3. Option to have the thread created by the uploader or always assigned to the same user account
4. Option to never create threads by category
5. Usergroup permissions for being allowed to create a new thread
6. Link added between thread in Downloads file detail (optional).
7. Updated Downloads entry creates new post in thread alerting of an update.
8. Database link to Downloads file entry removed if thread is deleted.
9. If the Downloads new entry is placed in moderation, so is the thread.
10. Option to have new threads locked.

Installation

1. Upload the files in the upload folder into your forum directory.
2. From the admincp, import the product file product-dl2_thread.xml
3. From the admincp, set the options under "DownloadsII - Create Threads"
4. Be sure to set the usergroup permissions!
5. Done!

This is under your usergroup settings. Usergroups -> Usergroup Manager. Select the group you want to give permissions for then look for the "DownloadsII Create Thread Permissions" (see attached pic)

You have to configure the settings in admincp under "Downloads - Create Threads" (see second image)

I have followed the steps you have mentioned. Have created a global forum for newly created threads. Have set the settings under admin control panel for downloadII create thread. And have assigned Administrator group permissions like adding files to download section. But still no thread is created automatically in the forum i have specified. I have attached some snapshots with this reply; can you please check it and let me know where i have done some mistakes.

One thing I noticed is that if I include an image with IMG tags during upload it appears in the forum thread.

If I upload a file that has no permissions to create a thread or was a pre-existing file and then I edit it for the FIRST TIME and include an image tag it shows up.

However, if I edit the file and don't include an image, then go back later and include an image on a subsequent edit the image does NOT show up.

One other small bug, if someone else uploaded the file (prior to this mod) and then I edit the file causing a thread to be created, it creates the thread from me, not from the original uploader. It should check to see if this is a pre-existing file that is being edited IMHO, again minor bug and situational for those who have files before implementing this mod.

First of all, this is a great mod. Thank you to CyberRanger for all of the support he has given.

Second, I ran into the same problem many people are running into now and was able to resolve it. I was not getting the controls on the left side of the AdminCP. I just reinstalled the .xml file (clicked on overwrite) and then refreshed. It appeared and everything worked fine.

If I had to make a recommendation for the next update I would like to see the comments made under downloads.php to be added to the new thread as a reply.

Would this be an easy thing to do? And do the posts made under downloads.php add to the post count of the forum?
