Purpose of Moderator group?
I am just wondering what the purpose behind the Moderator group is in vBulletin. I recently made one user a Super mod, and one user a Mod. My thinking here was that the Moderator would be able to monitor (delete, move, etc) threads in forums I specify, while the Super mod would have full-reign.
Clearly this isn't the case. The moderator group doesn't have permissions to even delete threads / posts, and i don't see this option anywhere in the configuration for a usergroup or forum. Any guidance on the thinking behind this would be much appreciated, as well as some input on how i can specify that a usergroup is able to delete / move / edit posts w/in only certain forums. I understand the concept of adding a user to be moderator of a forum (and have already done that in some cases) but am failing to see the purpose of the Moderator user group. thanks |

You need to go to Forums & Moderators > Show All Moderators > find your moderator under the Moderators List and then select Edit next to the forum you wish to change the permissions on. There you can specify all the moderator permissions they will have for that particular forum.

in line w/ what you've suggested, if you add somebody to the Moderators group (only), and do what you've said, their name does not show up in the listing on that page. |

Unlike the Super Moderator usergroup, which by default does give extra permissions, the Moderator usergroup does not give any special permissions.
It is added as a default group and mostly used to "group" regular moderators together, give them maybe access to to a Staff forum or set a "Moderator" User title. |

Ok now I have a question. I've put somebody in the moderator usergroup. Now how do I give them moderator permissions without making them a super-moderator? I can't find a page to do it on anywhere! :S

Go to the Forum Manager (Under the Forums & Moderators tab) in your AdminCP. Next to each forum you'll see a dropdown tab "Moderators"; you can add a moderator through this.
