Variable number profile fields

I am attempting to write a mod that will display some data under the avatar in postbit according to some profile fields. There will be a profile field to select 1 2 3 or 4 data sets. Depending on that, I want to display 2 profile fields for each data set (a userid and passkey, they're hashes of external data). I then want to display 4 data items in postbit (I'm using postbit_legacy if it matters) for each userid/passkey pair, which will be parsed from XML retrieved using the userid/passkey. Do any similar mods exist that I can look at to get an idea of how this can be done?
