Enter Valid Access Code In Order to Register
Hey Guys,
I'm a newbie when it comes to this vBulletin stuff but I didn't see an add-on like this in forum. Its so simple its gotta exist tho. All I want to do is implement an "Access Code" field in the registration page that forces users to enter in a valid 'password' (probably just an easily updatable string value) before they are allowed to create a registered user. The access code would be distributed to the users via e-mail before they would register with my vBulletin site. Does anybody know of some piece of software or code that could make this work? Thanks in advance. -tang |

You can have them insert a series of letters when signing up, and also have them have a valid e-mail address, that way they have to go into their e-mail and validate their account, otherwise, they can't really access the forum.

1. Create a new user profile field
2. Make it a single line text box 3. Make it a required field 4. Only editable by user at registration 5. Add your alphanumeric code in the 'match regular expression' box. 6. Modify your templates so the field isn't displayed on the user profile page |

What is wrong with vBulletins exsisting email validation system? Just set the user permissions for the "Users Awaiting Email Confirmation" usergroup to the bare minimum or even give them no board permissions at all, therefore making them validate their email.

That's fine but isn't really what he was asking.
