Smarter way would be to use .htaccess redirects. Try something like this:

RewriteEngine On
RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} yourdomain.com
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} ^/(.*)$

That was my thinking too

Unfortunately this will redirect any requests for any file in root won't it? I'd need to specify the files (showthread,showpost etc) individually?


I could also fill the root with a dummy showpost.php etc taking the p value passed and redirecting the the real file.

Maybe it's just not worth it

why can't you just edit the Site URL on ACP to yourforum.com/forum

it confuses vB 'cause the Site URL is still w/o /forum....

Yes, I assumed that you only had vBulletin within your root dir.; so it wouldn't matter what was redirected. I believe there's a way to exclude specific files within the condition; if so - that'd be simpler IMO, as other websites may still be linking to your old location, so this would preserve all links (posted on your board or otherwise).

That wouldn't fix the issue with posted URLs not pointing to the proper location.
