Attachment/Avatar Sizes (Advice Please)
What's a fair setting for attachment and avatar file sizes? My host will probably be running 200GB webspace and 2,500GB bandwidth, if that helps. Also, senior members will gain larger attachment/avatar file sizes. How much higher?
Thanks. |

100x100. If avatars get too big, like I have seen, it's really unattractive for guests.

Thanks but I'm talking about actual file sizes.

5MB is about average for uploading attachments, but you might have to get your Host to tweak this setting, as most are set at 1MB!
The larger DB you have, the more difficult it can be when restoring, or moving Hosts! Hope this is what you mean! |

Sorry, perhaps it's my fault for not being clear enough. I mean member permissions, i.e. how big a file they can attach or avatar they can upload.

That's all down to your 'Attachment Manager' and 'Attachment Permissions' in each Usergroup! Set it up there! Avatars can be set in Usergroup Manager, too!

Well, I would set about 20kB for an avatar and ~5MB for an attachment.
For senior members you can increase attachment size to 10MB. |
