Instant Messaging

Hope this is the correct place to post this.

I am not a fan of IMs such sa MSN, Yahoo and such. Their violations of privacy and being a big target of hackers is not desirable.

On phpBB we used Prillian. It was limited use for site members only. Nothing went to another server.

VB doesn't have any such thing. At least yet.

We have been using the stand alone version of php121. Linked via a members only visible link is pretty good.

What would be very nice would be to have it integrated into the VB login. So if online available without extra logins and such.

If this appeals to any coders either for integrating this or making similar for VB would be really sweet.

Those are basically suped up PMs.

PHP121 has full scrolling conversations like Yahoo, MSN and such. The whole conversation is shown, not just the last message received.

And with those you listed a new window pops up for every message. So if a couple of people are talking to you that can mean having 4 or 5 windows, you get lost in what is said, which window in which order.

Messy.

PHP121 is the best I have found so far. One window per conversation. Scrolling with smilies.

Using the vB login function and showing who is online for messaging would be a very nice add to it.

It is very good for admin/mod conversations if nothing else. Makes working on the forum so much smoother.

Just an FYI... you can do this now - php121 uses your user table to get to password in MD5 format.
