I have vbulletin installed and planning on setting up a portal for the home page. Which one is better for this, Subdreamer or vbCMPS, feature and usability wise. I don't mind the $99 price tag on subdreamer if it is way better beyond vbCMPS which is free.
To my understanding here are the main differences: price: subdreamer is $99 and vbCMPS is free skin: subdreamer has an excellent of skins avaiable for download, vbCMPS uses the vbulletin skin (which might be plus if conherence is an issue) article: subdreamer has its own article submission system so you can create portal data directly, but vbCMPS relies on vbulletin to get the content. integration: vbCMPS is an add-on to vbulletin while subdreamer has its own system, including user db but can be integrated with vbulletin. So Subdreamer or vbCMPS? Thanks -- J |

Subdreamer news system doesnt intergrate well into the forums its really ment to be independent. I personally dont like vbCMPS cause it looks like a bunch of blocks.

Thanks for the response.
I think for now I will just use the vbCmps to test the water a bit. My ultimate goal is to make a home page similar to cnn.com's news home page. I would like to control exactly which news item gets onto the home page (different blocks like world news, news from asia, life style, technology, etc) from the news forums. Wonder how that can happen ... One way I think it might work is to create a special user account and make vbCmps only to retrieve the news posts from this user onto the home page ... that might need mod on vbCmps, I guess. |
