You can look at the daily post activity, the number of posts generated in an hour and all the other data points that a forum exhibits. However, it's very possible for a forum to have a ton of people browsing but only a few as members if they get media coverage, do a lot of marketing or just cover a hot subject.

any stat can be faked with a simple sql update query.

we even have a "Fake Statistics" hack here... for people not able to bring people to post on their forum...

but actually, there is a possible link between the use of the forum and the number of registered users... some commercial sites provide direct support to their members if they register, .. the forum is only used by a portion of these members...

My site averages 200 users online at any giving time. If someone releases spy shots, or something that is posted to a car blog, or the front page of a magazine website, the "guests" number will jump up to a very high number.

Unless you're a total retard, you should be able to tell if there are really 10,000 people on a forum.

no it not hack
its something like u have 2 servers A and B
in servers B there are 3 forum
in server A there ara 1 forum

there ara way u can make all visit in server B ((in forum)) to be visit in forum that in server A
