something for the admin/developers (suggestion)
I would like to say first thanks for making this site available to add nice additions
i do have a request i dont know if everyone will agree but for me if a code hacker is making hacks they will know how many queries they are adding to each page can i make a suggestion that in there main section where we read about the hack before we download could you please add a "queries added" section i believe it would help in a few ways. 1. it would make the hacker think about this issue and we all know thats a good thing 2. we could decide we already have to many queries on the showthread page (example) we will leave this for now (stop some from breaking a board) 3. it would save us having to disable hacks to find out which ones are taking up alot of queries i run a semi big board and reducing load has become a study for me but alot of members dont have the knowledge to find out whats causing problems and i believe something like this will make everyone think about hacks before they install them thanks for reading Regards Mickie D |

The number of queries does not mean a thing. I can add 1 query that will bring any server on it's knees, or i could add 10 that you would not even notice.

ok thanks for that
i was just under the impression that a query was a database call, and maybe on smaller forums your 10 would not get noticed but on large forums with 1000's online you would not want to call the database another 10 times each time a page is loaded. but i understand what you are saying about one query that could bring a server down. i just think its nice to know how many queries each hack is going to make to the database. |
