Just converted, but there's a couple things...
I just converted my IPB 2.1.7 forum to a vB 3.6.3 using the Impex converter, but there's a couple things I don't really like.
All the passwords seem to have reset, so in order to login, you have to click on Forgotten Password, and reset it. Another thing is, it looks like everyone has Private Messaging disable by default. They have to go into their options and check the Enable Private Messaging box in order to send or receive messages. I looked in the admin panel but couldn't find anything. I'm officially switching to vB tomorrow, so if you have any help, let me know. Thanks |

The passwords, you can't do squat about. It's a well documented issue. You can however mass email members w/ link for lostpassword. That's what I did when I converted.
There is a query you you can do on the DB to set all default PM's to on, posted either here or over at vb.com |

And I'll be searching for it, but if anyone has the link to the query, it'd be much appreciated. Thanks |

regarding the query to set all users to accept pm's, if you can't find it just ask. I can't recall what it was, but I'm sure someone over at vb.com will help

ok here's the solution, from vbulletin.com:
"dminCP > vBulletin Options > User Registration Options > Default Registration Options > Check Receive Private Messages and save Then to enable it for everyone else AdminCP > Import & Maitences > Excute SQL Query > From the drop down select > Yes - Recive Private Messages Hit continue, this will turn it on for all registered users." Works. |
