Upgrading from 3.5.X to 3.6.1
Hi all,
Art here. New to the forum and loaded with questions. I am running a forum based on 3.5. I like 3.6.1, but upgrading over top of my 3.5 system sounds like a nightmare, as I have lots of hacks that would take lots of work to revert, etc. I'd rather install a fresh copy of 3.6.1 on a brand new server with all of the latest bits and import all of my fourms, users, posts, etc., into a clean environment. Anyone ever do this? Impex seems like the right tool but it also appears to be very complex. Any pointers would be appreciated...TIA! A |

You can't use impex if you are moving your forum to a new server.
Impex needs to connect to an existing database in order to transfer threads / posts etc I've used impex on several occasions and it works well |

I have quite a few hacks and stuff myself when I went from 3.5.4 to 3.6.x. It's really not that much work reverting and redoing all edits. I'd just uninstall my mods, upgrade and revert, then make all my changes.
