[Suggestion] Prevent Self Thread Rating

I know a few people are going to give me some dirty glances for this one but...

To prevent people from artificially rating their hack/mod/whatever higher then it would be naturally by the community a suggestion is to prevent users from rating their own threads.

Rating or clicking Install?

I doubt many people are looking at the ratings. I think most of my hacks where never rated by anyone (or the occsional joker that already gave the lowest rating within 5 minutes from release, with still no installs)

Ehhh... let's stick with just rating for now.

Remember, your personal experiences with the ratings system isn't necessarily the same as everybody elses.

Does anyone actually use the ratings as a guide ? - all you actually get is a few stars - no comments or anything useful. I think people look at the install count, author, and read the thread for potential problems. I seriously doubt anyone makes a decision based on the rating.

Just an example - but "FlashChat - Who is in the chat" has no ratings at all, yet 700 installs, rising daily.

I, for one, always look at both the rating and install count...I think it's a good suggestion.

I do look at the rating, but disagree with not allowing the hack/thread creators to rate themselves -- I think they have just as much a right as anyone else.

Hmmm i doubt most authors would give their own work an honest rating.

I agree, I never look at the rating. As far as clicking install on your own hacks I think if you use it on your site you have every right to click install.
