Search Queue
I've got a board with about 3M posts and the full-text search is killing the site when more than two or three people try it at once.
Has anyone seen, or is anyone capable of making, a hack that will only allow 'x' number of searches at a time, and that when 'x' is exceeded, the users are directed to a wait screen where it tells them that "Only 'x' searches are allowed at a time and you are user 'y' of 'z' in the search queue." That page should refresh every 10-15 seconds or so and update them when their search is now in progress. It would also be needed that when the page refreshes, a time stamp be stored for the queued user, and that any timestamp for other queued users NOT updated within twice the refresh rate should be deleted (thus preventing search queries for users who have decided not to wait). Can anyone help me here? I'd really like to be able to turn the search back on... |
