Question::Generating Startup Traffic

As a brand new board is there any proven ways to get a board started?

Initially it is like a party with everyone sitting in the corner afraid to be the first ones to stand up & get it going. Is there a way to get around this?

I seem to have the members on the other areas of my site but they just pass on by the forums. Which is understandable, since nobody wants to post in an empty forum.

I was wondering if there were any services out there to purchase posters or anything like that. I myself am to busy with th rest of the site to actually go through & start creating posts on my own. any ideas? There has to be a good way to jumpstart things.
