Here's another idea. Across the top and bottom of my message board, I have a list of forums...so from anywhere, people can easily move from one forum to another. I find this easier to use than the forumjump feature built into vB, since you just click a link rather than opening a drop-down box, etc.
Now I have this done by just putting in standard HTML code into the header and footer. I'd like to know if this can be done in a more sophisticated manner...so if/when I ever make changes to the forums, like adding new ones or renaming them, etc., the changes show up automatically, rather than me having to edit the HTML code in the header and footer. So I guess it would a db query, to output a list of all public-displayed forums (i.e. all the same forums you see in the forumhome view), and format them to be a link to the corresponding forum. And they should be displayed in the same order as in the forumhome view. You can look here to see what I'm after: http://www.jjr512.com/forums/index.php?s= (look at the top and bottom edges of the white area). |
