Multiple boards with a shared forum
Forgive me if this is posted in the wrong forum, but I do not currently have a license for vB, thus making me unable to post in the more related forums, and would like to make sure vB is possible of doing this before blowing money on three licenses and finding out later.
... Is there currently a hack or other sort of add-on for vB3 to allow to seperate boards to share a specific forum(s)? For example, you have three different websites operating their own boards (running vB3). Knitting, basket weaving, and sowing. Each website has it's own set of categories and forums, but all have a common forum named "Free-4-All" for unrelated chatter to the subject. Assuming that the boards have already been hacked so that users registering on one website can access the other two (to avoid the problem of 'guest' or 'unknown' posters), is there a way to get the "Free-4-All" forum of each board to be shared? To the users, it would appear to be part of their board (crumbtrail, template), but in reality, three different websites are using it. Or is there at least a way to get the forum on the three boards to write to it's Free-4-All forum and the same forum on the other two boards simoultaniously. This way, all the board's forums have the same information in it, and when read or browsed, appear to be "mirrored"? Assuming that all three boards are using the same database, but have different table prefixes, is this currently possible? |
