VB3 Pets vs. VB3 RPG hacks

I have looked into both RPG hacks for VB3 that I know of, and recently noticed VB Pets in the releases forums. Are the two ideas even compairable? I don't really have personal experience with any of the hacks, but I know that the RPG's cost money, and the VB Pet's does not. What are some oppinions of people who have used both of these? Thanks
