General ideas to make a forum into a shop

I have been testing out an idea for using Vbulletin as a shop, because it can quickly be updated.
I dont really have much knowledge of computer programming, it has taken me a few weeks to get as far as i have.
What i really need to know is can i add.
Background images to forums, especially the main forum list?
can the forums on the first screen be placed in different areas of the screen?
Is their a cart system or other hack that works well with vb?
Can graphics be added in the thread identification feilds.?
