Firstly, my machine struggles to cope with Windows XP, and multiple browsers open at once...
Therefore, I need a memory upgrade...
At the moment, I have 256MB... My dad says you need as much as you can give for XP, but 512MB is a bare minimum for someone who uses it as intensively as I do...
So I open up my machine, to find that I have to have the most expensive type of memory in existence to my knowledge, RIMM...
To put a price perspective:
2 x 256MB RIMM = ?260
2 x 512MB DDR DIMM = ?66

So, not only is that a real b***h, but today, me and my dad pulled out my desk for a shift-around, and I find out, that my 2 USB ports at the back are broken:angry:
So no big deal, but now I have to plug my keyboard in the front, a real kick-able hazard
Anyway, I found that Micro-Star no longer build my motherboard, so a replacement is out of the question...
So I look up on Micro-Star's website, and find that they have an update for my board, which has roughlly the same profile, but obviously, being newer, can support higher-speed processors...
So I was planning to upgrade my processor anyway, as I feel 2GHz is too slow
This new motherboard will cost me ?120.68 (inc VAT)...
I then find out that the b***hes Packard Bell used a socket 423 board, meaning a 423 pin processor, whereas the new board is 478:angry:
This means I have to find ?500 to get memory, a board and a new processor, plus get a debit card so I can sell my RIMM and 2GHz procesor on eBay...
I have to get new memory, as the new type is DDR DIMM
Any suggestions, or know anyone that wants some RIMM / a 2GHz processor? (this is not advertising, just a notice that I will be selling on eBay soon)
