Creating theme change in footer like vb.org in vB4

Hello, I have working code for the most part to have the styles change in the footer like it can here on vb.org. I'm only running into one problem though. When I click on the little square it will open either in the forum or the cms whichever I have put in the code at the time. I would like to know if there was a way to make it open in the same place that the member is currently on the site. So for example if they are viewing a thread in the forum and I use the

forum.php?styleid=1

It will go back to the Forumhome page. I want it to just change the skin but stay in the thread they are viewing. Hope that makes sense.
