The new usegroups you made were not given a User Title name were they?
When you created the new usegroups, you created them based off registered users usergroup.
Doing that, caused the new usergroup to pick up the User Title name of the registered users usergroup.
Try this:
Give each of your new usergroups a User Title name, then rebuild the User Titles.
Visit your site on a different browser and register to test it out.
