Changing size of forum_new48/old48 icons

I'm talking about these: http://prntscr.com/64mf6 <- there is no space between the text now

It seems they are coded somewhere to so it's always 48px. I tried changing this: http://prntscr.com/64mty, but it affects height as well, creating too much vertical space. Trying to manually edit the template didn't seem to work at all: http://prntscr.com/64mte
