Looking for a hack which allows users to hide certain forum sections

A forum i used to visit had a hack/mod in place which allowed each user to hide certain sections of a forum via some options in their user CP's. Unfortunately that forum is now defunct and i cant for the life of me figure out what the hack was or find it (i'm a bit of a n00b

).

Was hoping that some of you clever folks around here would know what it is i'm talking about
