Big mistake on the processor and the graphic card. You should have gone for the newer Sandy Bridge processors which completely outperform the older i7's. Also the HD5770 would have been a much better buy than the GeForce 550.
Oye lol but in the least this beats a old Athlon II XP w/ 2 Gigs but I hear ya on that now that I've done some more reading it seems I made a decent choice... after seeing the custom rigs users submitted on the EVGA site I said I give up lol... for pete's sake vijayninel check these out here:
WOW is all I can say to some of the machines listed!
And admittedly I've always been a AMD and nvidia fan so I try to stay with those but currently the i7 even the one I purchased for that price was better than the AMD they offered and long story short above all else I had to stay somewhere close to the $1500, I was a little over at $1800 and my wife let me live the condition? New living room furniture next then I must redo the kitchen after that... fair trade for a new PC I suppose . Although I did price this again for my wife off of a custom pc site and it came up right at $3300 so building it myself saved me quite a bit and boy if I had more $$$ it would have been similar to one of the rigs you see above .
I know I'll be kicking myself for a few choices but overall I'm pleased and parts have already shipped minus the graphic cards from evga.
Wish me luck! I'll post the 3D Mark 11 (http://www.3dmark.com/) results when I receive the full version they include that if you purchase a 500 series card from evga directly so waiting on box for serial # then free full version so we'll see how bad this baby is!
