"Post Prefixes" for Mods forum threads...
I realize this isn't part of vBulletin but since this is a forum full of vb coders I'm sure it'd be possible if there was interest.
I believe a mod should be made (if one hasn't already) where we could implement "Post Prefixes" similar to "Thread Prefixes" but for posts... When you make a post in a mod thread you would be required to choose a prefix, such as:
This would make life easier for both coders and users... as a user I find a mod and it has hundreds, if not thousands of posts and I feel compelled to read them all before installing or asking a question... If I could filter the posts so I only read say ones marked as "Bug" or "Critical" I'm sure I could get through it much faster... Thanks are nice but as someone looking to download the mod I don't need to read 50 people thanking the author or a dozen people with sometimes absurd suggestions for making it better... I just want to see what problems people are having, if any. Also as a mod author it would make supporting the mod easier as well, I could filter to see problems only and address them... if I'm feeling down I could look at only the "Thank Yous"- when I'm ready to upgrade I could quickly scan the "Suggestions" I can't imagine Post Prefixes would be beyond the ability of a decent VB Coder and could really help. If we wanted to get really fancy then we could choose what type of notification we get to subscribed threads so if I chose to get email notice of "Critical Issues" I could but all others were control panel notification only. Also... I would give the mod author the option of changing a post prefix on any post in their thread- they could be best to tell if something is truly a bug or a support request or critical issue- not something they are required to do but they could keep posts properly filed if they wanted to. |
