Login form on homepage

Hi,

I made a login form on my homepage but i am stuck...
I have a Homepage and a forum in the map /forum.

I want the following:
A login form that only shows for guests, when logged in its shows content for members.

I saw in this article the following:

Show this to only guest.

Show this to all registered users

How can i achieve that outside my forum? do i need to make a database connection?

I really hope someone could help me with this!
