Help moving an image in CSS within the body of vB

I am a self learned guy, and sometimes I can't seem to get the simplest thing done..

I am trying to get a shadow on my forum's body on both sides. I have figured out how to add the shadow, but can't get it to move over to where it belongs. I have attached two pics for reference.

Any help with this would be greatly appreciated!
