Wolfram Alpha Search
Wolfram Alpha Search just went live yesterday. Wolfram, if you are not aware, is the world renowned genius who created Mathematica. He wrote the search algorithm and gathered a team to create the site. I think it has lots of potential, depending on his funding (probably won't be an issue) and his commitment (tends to change projects every few years). His community also has the potential to make it huge since there are web widgets, deverloper's API, and even Mathematica & webMathematica customizations. Here's the link for that:
http://www.wolframalpha.com/developers.html To search, general or web-topics related, check out: http://www.wolframalpha.com/examples...erSystems.html Here's a list of other topics: http://www.wolframalpha.com/examples/ I think the general search needs lots of improvement. However, the topic-specific search categories seem useful. I'm looking forward to see where this goes. It has the potential to be Google & Wikipedia combined, but probably not as popular as Google and as extensive as Wikipedia (at least not yet). Have you tried searching with it? What do you think? |
