Forum Border

I'm looking into putting a border around the entire forum and then filling it with a background colour. However I can't seem to get the border to go where it needs to be, I followed instructions from an old thread here. But that sets the border too far away from the forum. See the attachment for what I mean, thanks in advance for any help
