displaying avatar in calendar event page

I am trying to display the avatar of users who post events in the calendar. At the moment only the username is displayed in the 'calendar_showeventbit template', and if I try to insert the avatar variable taken from the postbit, this does not work. How can I display the user's avatar under their username in the calendar-event page?
