Is there a way to better align my subforums for easier reading on the forum homepage

The nature of our forum dictates many subforums. The problem is is that they look cluttered. Here is a snapshot of one of our main forums with all of its subforums:

I would like it to either be bulleted or perhaps 3 or 4 columns

Example 1:

Grocery Stores

A&P
ACME
ALBERTSONS
Etc....

Or something like that....can anyone help me figure out how to do that.
