inserting into vb db makes new member names not clickable

I haven't been able to find anything on this issue of mine.

I started a site about a year ago and I use vbulletin as the site's forum. When someone registers on the script they have always had their username, pw, etc. inserted into the vbulletin database at time of registration. For some reason they show up and can post, but their names aren't links that you can click on and also without titles. In order for them to show up I have to rebuild user names and user titles or whatever. There must be a way to go around this because I never really get around to doing this task since we have more than 80,000 members it takes WAY too long.

So there must be a way to have this working from the begining. What exactly is updated when someone runs the update username or update user titles options in admincp? I know that it takes a LONG time to get through 1,000 user entries, let alone more than 80,000. I'll keep trying to figure it out, but if someone has any idea what I'm talking about and any suggestions on what I should check I'd appreciate it.
